Weatherby (Harvard, A.B. 1897; A.M. 1898) was interested in botany and volunteered at Gray Herbarium during summers. In 1931 he became Assistant Curator; Senior Curator in 1937; and Research Associate upon his retirement in 1940. Charles Clemon Deam was born in Bluffton, Indiana; he worked as a druggist and later became chief state forester in 1919. Deam published several books about grasses, trees and shrubs of Indiana.
